The Secretariat of the Court is managed by the Secretary General. This body is also entrusted with the scrutiny of awards and the preparation of proposals for the Appointment Committee, after consultation with the President, as well as the other functions attributed to it in the rules of distribution of powers of the Court. The Secretary General reports functionally to the Presidency.

The person occupying the General Secretariat has absolute incompatibility and may not act as arbitrator in any arbitration administered by the Court, either by appointment by the Court or by the parties.
