The Court of Arbitration of Madrid is keeping an eye on best practices in the international arena.

MIAC

The Madrid International Arbitration Centre (MIAC)is the result of the merger of the international activity of the Court of Arbitration of Madrid, the Civil and Commercial Court of Arbitration and the Spanish Court of Arbitration, to which the Madrid Bar Association has joined as a strategic partner. The Additional Provision of the Rules of the Court regulates how MIAC will administer international arbitrations arising from: (i) arbitration agreements designating the CIAM as the administering institution; and (ii) arbitration agreements designating any of the four promoting entities -and among them, the Court of Arbitration of Madrid- as the administering institution, provided that they are entered into on or after January 1, 2020.

OBSERVER FOR UNCITRAL WORKING GROUP II

The Court has observer status at the United Nations Commission on International Trade Law (“UNCITRAL”) and actively participates in its Working Groups II and III, related to the development of international commercial and investment arbitration.

COLLABORATION WITH OTHER INTERNATIONAL INSTITUTIONS

It is also an active member of the Inter-American Commercial Arbitration Commission (“CIAC”), a supranational entity formed by the Ibero-American Chambers of Commerce, as well as the International Federation of Commercial Arbitration Institutions (“IFCAI”).
